Wedding Day
What is the style or color palette we’re going for?
Cameron put some stuff here!
Where is the wedding?
The wedding will take place on a cliffside in Marin County at a spot called Muir Beach Overlook. Don’t spoil the views too much by Googling the location!
How will we get there?
We will take a private shuttle bus to the venue and to dinner. Don’t stress, just look your best and meet us outside the hotel when it’s time to go!
Should we bring warm clothes?
Yes, consider bringing layers so you can add or remove as needed. The Bay Area is always chilly to some degree so we always recommend layers.
Transportation
How do we get to/from SFO?
The best way to get to/from SFO from downtown is via BART. Simply take BART between San Francisco International Airport Station and Montgomery St. Station via the red or yellow line depending on time of day.
BART is a subway/train system that takes you directly into the International Terminal at SFO, which then connects you to all 3 domestic terminals via walking or via the free airport “AirTrain” – I would encourage you to walk as is it often as quick and less confusing.
When you land, you can find the exit for the baggage claim & ground transporation, which should then lead you to signs pointing to BART. If you cannot find your way to BART, head to the International Terminal or feel free to ask any employee who should be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Click here for SFO maps.
Soapbox
I geniunly think taking Uber/Lyft from the airport is more difficult because of the convoluted way to get to the pickup spot + traffic + price. You’ll find the train to be spaceous, easy to find, and fast + it doesn’t rely on a company which takes advantage of its contractors.
How do we get around San Francisco?
There are numerous ways! From cable cars to automated AI self-driving cars, I’m sure you’ll find something fun. Let me list the many different options in order of my preference from best to worst.
- MUNI
- Busses
- Trains
- Cable Cars
- BART
- Bay Wheels
- Waymo (self driving cars!)
- Uber/Lyft
The options, described in more detail
MUNI is the city’s public transport network which includes busses, trains, and yes, even cable cars. Most likely MUNI will be our favorite option since it’s cheap, has free transfer windows, and serves most of the city with ease. It can be empty, crowded, quiet, or loud. It’s a glimpse into the city life since most locals take MUNI.
If we need to go anywhere along the center of the city, its possible we may take BART which is faster.
I like a bit of exercise, so the Bay Wheels bikeshare and scooters are a great option for quick movements without needing to sweat too much since they’re often powered ebikes. Scooters always are powered.
If you’re feeling fun, try a Waymo! They’re private in the sense that the car drives itself without a driver present, so feel free to turn the music up and have fun!
Finally, Uber and Lyft are options as well but I would like to avoid them if possible.
How do we pay for transit?
Your phone should support a mobile wallet to pay for a transit pass, and in the Bay Area, transit can be paid for using the “Clipper Card,” which is a Bay Area Transit card. You can add a Clipper Card to your phone’s mobile wallet using instructions here: Clipper Card Pay With Phone
How much money do I need to put on my Clipper Card?
It’s recommended you start with about $20.00. You can always add more money at any time, either in the app or at a ticket machine.
How do we use the Clipper Card?
All buses, trains, and even cable cars will accept Clipper Cards but the style in which you pay and use can be different.
Buses (Tag-on only)
When you board a bus at the front door, a Clipper Card reader will be inside ready for you to tap. You only tap when boarding, not when exiting.
BART (Tag-on and tag-off)
When you arrive at a BART station, you’ll need to tap at a fare gate to enter. All stations have fare gates and the gate will not open until you have tapped your card to enter and exit. BART charges you when you exit at your destination, so you will tap when you enter and when you exit.
Caltrain (Tag-on and tag-off)
If you take Caltrain, you’ll need to tap outside the train on the station platform. Caltrain requires you to tap before you board the train as well as when you arrive at your destination. This allows Caltrain to charge you the appropriate zone-based fare.
Ferries (Tag-on and tag-off)
If you join us on a ferry, the staff will have you tag-on during boarding and when leaving. They’ll be ready to assist you if needed.
How do I reload or add money to my Clipper Card?
You can do this in person at a ticket machine, or via your mobile wallet. Here’s some examples!

Hotel & Location
Where are we staying?
We’re staying in the Hilton San Francisco Financial District – see their website here, or check out the Google Maps link here.
Is the area safe?
Yes, most of San Francisco is safe but consider standard city precautions such as staying aware of your surroundings, walking in well-lit and populated areas, and avoiding distractions.
One of the most notorious parts of the city, the Tenderloin neighborhood, is somewhat interesting (and by interesting I mean a little sketchy), but our itinerary does not have us in or around that area. Even then, it’s not as bad as you may have seen online. Hopefully visiting our city will give you your own perspective, which we think is really important.
Do we have an itinerary?
Yes, view our page at clam.wedding/itinerary/
